We will hear from city representatives on progress towards the City's renewable energy goals and participate in roundtable discussions focused on YOUR questions, ideas and priorities. The Concord “stocktake” is presented by CEEAC and Concord Greenspace in partnership with ICLEI (Local Government for Sustainability), Cities and Regions in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, Youth Constituency of the UNFCC, and EarthDay.org.
Background:
The Paris Climate Agreement was adopted by nearly 200 nations in 2015, setting ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions and move to a clean energy economy. A key element of the agreement is a periodic “stocktake” – an assessment of progress and where climate action efforts need to be ramped up to meet goals. Concord Mayor Jim Bouley is a member of Climate Mayors and Concord supports the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Concord’s climate goals include 100% renewable energy by 2050, with an interim goal of generation of 100% renewable electricity by 2030. These goals apply to the entire Concord community, not just the City of Concord government operations. Join us on Monday, May 22nd to participate in the discussion - we hope to see you there!
